Phase 02 · Structure
Barn renovations: repair, modernize, preserve or repurpose
No two barns are alike. Fisher Construction has been renovating barns for Yakima Valley home and business owners since 2017.
Chapter 01
Structural repairs that last
Weather, heavy use and natural settling take a toll on any barn. Posts rot where they meet the ground, beams sag, roofing lets water in, and siding opens up. Left alone, each problem feeds the next, and a repair that would have been simple becomes a rebuild.
Our crew replaces rotted posts, beams, trusses, roofing and siding. We can also add a foundation and flooring to a bare-floor barn and address drainage issues. Before we cut anything, we assess the load-bearing parts so the repair is safe and built to hold for the long run.

Modernizing without losing the barn
Update a barn without sacrificing its character and it becomes a more functional, efficient space. We can reconfigure the layout or keep the original, weighing how each change affects how the barn works and how it looks. We talk through what serves your family or your business before the work starts.
The upgrade list is long: energy-efficient windows, barn doors and ramps, new floors in wood, rubber, asphalt, cement, gravel or slatted styles, fresh paint and cladding, LED and smart lighting, stall fronts and partitions, animal wash areas, feed and hay storage, gutters, electrical, plumbing, water and septic, insulated roof and wall panels, ventilation, solar, fire safety equipment, and lean-tos or additions.
Chapter 03
Historic barns get a slower hand
An old barn carries a family's history. We look for custom millwork and carvings, the wear and patina on vintage structural beams and metal surfaces, original flooring and old barn equipment, and we plan the renovation around protecting or repurposing those features.
The goal is to keep what makes the building special while bringing it up to current standards, so it stands for another generation. That takes a careful plan before the first board comes off, and we take the time to make one.
When the barn needs a new job
Plenty of barns outlive the work they were built for. Our remodeling team can turn an unused barn into something that fits where your family or business is headed now, with the structure, floors, power and water made ready for the new use.
Fisher Construction is based in Selah and works throughout the Yakima Valley and Central Washington. Call (509) 424-6072, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, to talk through your barn. Estimates are free.
