Phase 03 · Finish

Exterior painters for Selah and the Yakima Valley

Your exterior is the first thing people notice and the first thing the weather hits. Fisher Construction preps each surface for what it is made of and paints it to last through the valley's seasons.

Chapter 01

Paint is protection before it is color

South Central Washington has vibrant seasons and a wide mix of architectural styles, and a fresh coat of exterior paint is more than a cosmetic touch-up. It is a layer of protection against the region's climate, from hot summers to damp winters. Skip it too long and the failures are predictable: cracking, peeling, and moisture working in behind tired paint.

The Fisher crew brings over 100 years of combined team expertise to every exterior job in Selah, Yakima and the towns around them. Premium, weather-resistant paints go on homes and businesses alike, and the color conversation is part of the work. Earthy browns, tans and muted greens sit naturally with the Yakima Valley. Charcoal, soft white and navy suit modern lines. Many homeowners add a bold door or trim accent, such as deep red or teal, over a neutral base.

Surface by surface: wood, stucco, brick

Wood is the most common exterior material in Central Washington, and it needs prep to stand up to moisture and pests. The crew sands and cleans to remove old paint and debris, seals the wood with a primer for a smooth base, and finishes with weather-resistant paint that prevents cracking and peeling.

Stucco is durable but wants specialized care. Cracks and chips are repaired first for a smooth surface, then elastomeric paint goes on, since it expands and contracts with the material. Multiple coats build texture and longevity. Brick is beautiful and long lasting, but painting it takes attention. The crew cleans away dirt and mildew, applies a masonry primer for adhesion, and uses breathable, water-resistant paint to preserve the brick's natural properties.

Chapter 03

Timing the work to the valley's seasons

Spring brings moderate temperatures and lower humidity, which makes it an ideal time to paint, and many homeowners use it to refresh an exterior after winter wear. Summer has the longest days, but Yakima's hot, sunny afternoons need planning, so the crew schedules work for the cooler parts of the day to get the best result.

Early fall offers cooler temperatures and dry conditions, another excellent window, and a good way to get a home ready for winter. Winter painting is less common, though small touch-ups and weatherproofing projects can be handled as needed. To pick a season for your own property, call the Selah office at (509) 424-6072.

Doors and windows

Door and window painting in Yakima and Selah

Doors and windows are more than functional parts of a house. They shape its curb appeal and overall style. A professional paint job refreshes their look, protects them from wear, and ties the property together. Fisher Construction is a family-owned business with deep roots in the Yakima and Selah communities, and it paints everything from a front door to interior doors to weatherproofed window frames.

Yakima has hot summers and cold, damp winters, and well-painted doors and windows are a barrier between that weather and your home. Top-quality paints and primers help keep moisture out, preventing rot, mold and warping. The paints resist fading and cracking from long sun exposure, and the premium finishes hold up to daily wear.

Our prep process

A great paint job begins with prep

  1. 01Cleaning. Dirt, dust and grime come off first, leaving a pristine surface for the paint to adhere to.
  2. 02Sanding. Imperfections are smoothed and any peeling or flaking paint is removed.
  3. 03Priming. A high-quality primer seals the surface, blocks stains and sets up an even, durable finish.
  4. 04Masking. Hardware and glass are covered to protect them and to get sharp, clean edges.

Fisher Construction does not just paint doors and windows. The crew protects them.
