Phase 01 · Site

Foundation preparation in Yakima

Every lasting building starts with stable ground. Fisher Construction tests, clears, excavates, drains, grades and compacts the site so your foundation sits on something that will not move.

Chapter 01

What poorly prepared ground does to a building

Poorly prepared ground settles and cracks, and by the time you see it in the slab or the walls, the repair is expensive. Water that pools at the footing, frost heave under a slab, soil that shifts because nobody tested it: these are the failure modes foundation prep exists to prevent.

That is why Fisher Construction begins every project with an in-depth analysis and a plan written for the lot. The goal is to find the issues that raise the risk of shifting before they have a chance to compromise the base of your building.

How the foundation work runs, start to finish

The crew starts with a topography assessment and soil testing, then clears the land. Excavation and trenching for the foundation and its utilities follows, with grading and leveling to bring the ground to the right plane for the footings or slab.

Drainage is built in at this stage, to stop water pooling and frost heave. Soil stabilization, backfilling and final compaction finish the job, so the ground that carries the building has been proven rather than assumed.

The same approach covers a new home, an addition or outbuilding, and a new commercial or industrial facility. The scale changes. The sequence does not.

Chapter 03

Why local experience matters in the Yakima Valley

Grading and excavating for a foundation in Yakima is not the same as doing it elsewhere. Fisher is a licensed, insured, family-owned Selah company with more than 35 years of personal industry experience on the team, and it knows how Yakima Valley ground behaves through freeze, thaw and dry summers.

The crew has the tools and experience to complete jobs in line with engineering specifications and local building codes, which helps you avoid costly damage and repairs down the road.

From prepared ground to the next phase

Once the foundation ground is ready, the same company can carry the job into forming, pouring and framing, so nothing gets lost between the excavation and the structure. Fisher serves Yakima, Selah, Moxee, Sunnyside, Toppenish, Wapato, Zillah and Suncadia.
