Phase 01 · Site

Ditch digging and trenching, cut straight and cut to grade

Fisher Construction is a family-owned Selah crew with the equipment and know-how to trench for utilities, drainage, new construction and specialty projects, residential and commercial, across the Yakima Valley.

Chapter 01

What goes wrong with a trench dug cheap

A trench looks like the simplest job on a site until it is dug wrong. Uneven trenching and depth problems lead to pipe misalignment, foundation instability, soil collapse and repairs that cost far more than the trench ever did. Water, gas, electric and drain lines all depend on the ditch underneath them being true.

Many property owners think about renting a machine and doing it themselves. The trouble is that cheaply made, low-powered rental equipment does not compare to the specialty machinery a professional excavator runs. Add poor maneuverability, tight confines, and soil that is hard, rocky, loose or wet, and a weekend project turns into stressful problems and delays.

How the crew plans and cuts it

Every trench starts with a plan built around your actual site, not a generic depth chart. Fisher Construction is licensed and insured, and the crew understands the Yakima Valley's construction regulations, weather and soil conditions. Safety and efficiency come first, because a trench that is not safe to work in is not a trench worth digging.

From there the work is about overcoming whatever the lot throws at it: tight property boundaries, steep slopes, existing utilities, tree roots, rocks and difficult soil composition. The goal is a stable, properly graded trench that supports long-term durability, cut with minimal disruption to the surrounding landscape and with your property left in excellent condition.

Chapter 03

Where trenching ties into the rest of the build

Trenching is rarely the whole project. It is the first move that lets the footings, the utility runs and the drainage go in properly, which is why it sits in Phase 01 of the way this crew builds. The same team that digs the ditch can carry the job into foundation preparation and on up through the structure, so nothing gets handed off between trades.

Whether the project is in Selah, Yakima or elsewhere in Central Washington, the next step is a conversation about the site. Call (509) 424-6072, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, or send the project details and Fisher Construction will follow up to talk through the scope. Estimates are free.
